A downloadable tool for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Basic4GLj is a free, open-source BASIC programming tool for 2D and 3D game development on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

It brings Basic4GL's approachable BASIC syntax, built-in 2D sprite engine, and classic OpenGL-style graphics commands to a cross-platform environment for experimenting with graphics and building games.

Sharing

Programs can be exported as portable JAR files that run on Windows, macOS, or Linux to share your games and other creations.

Exported programs currently require Java 17 to run; Adoptium Temurin 17 is recommended.

For easier sharing, tools such as jpackage from JDK 17 can be used separately to create platform-specific packages with a bundled Java runtime.
